Why Trust Brody Brothers with Ant Control Services?

There are plenty of ant treatments available on the market these days, but it still pays to hire a professional. When you sporadically apply ant treatments, you risk breaking up the colony, causing it to split or move. You can easily make the problem worse if you don’t know what you are doing.

“Spraying here and there” is not a solution. In fact, we advise our Baltimore customers against using spray to treat ants, especially in the kitchen where the toxins can get on your food preparation surfaces. If you want to fight ants on your own, you can start by being proactive and reducing the chances of ants moving in. With our Home Protection Plan, you can avoid an ant infestation before it starts!

How To Deter Ants from Your Baltimore Home

Ant control is more effective if you create an unwelcoming environment for these creatures. It’s best to stop an ant infestation before it starts but how?

Here are a few tips that can be used to deter ants from nesting on your property and wreaking havoc on your home or business:

  • Trim outdoor branches and shrubbery. Cutting back all of the branches and shrubbery that comes in contact with your home’s exterior can inhibit ants from nesting. Ants use these elements to bypass the treated perimeter of your home.
  • Don’t over-mulch. It’s recommended to keep mulch at least three inches away from your home.
  • Don’t leave tree stumps or wood unattended. Tree stumps or any wood that is left to rot can attract ants. Try to avoid any situations where wood is in direct contact with the ground or right next to your home. Monitor wood decay and replace damaged wood as necessary.
  • Keep your kitchen area clean. Keeping your kitchen surfaces and your pet’s food bowl clean, and wiping spills immediately, can deter ants.
  • Monitor indoor humidity and establish a good water drainage system outdoors. Certain types of ants, commonly carpenter ants, are attracted to water and damp wood.
  • Get rid of debris. Remove piles of debris, like leaves, fire wood, or bricks; don’t keep firewood directly on the ground and too close to your home.
  • Make note of your plants. Control plant lice or aphids on your favorite shrubs like rose bushes, peonies and any type of maple.
