Reflecting on What It Means to be a Family-Owned Business

As we head into the New Year, it’s a time when many of us reflect on the past 12 months. When we look back on the challenges we’ve faced and all the wonderful things that have happened.

There’s no question that 2016 has been a tough year for a lot of reasons; we lost what seems like an unprecedented number of music and Hollywood icons, from David Bowie and Natalie Cole to Alan Rickman and Gene Wilder, not to mention Florence Henderson, Prince and Muhammad Ali. And it probably hasn’t escaped your notice that we’ve just come out of one of the most divisive presidential elections in living memory.

Even though it sometimes feels like our country is divided, the truth is that we are and always have been one country. A great country. And one of the things that makes us so proud to be a family-owned, American business is that there are opportunities for people who are willing to work hard, learn a skill and take a chance.

That’s something the Brody Brothers know a lot about. We’ve been a family-owned business for more than 30 years. Brothers Levi and Talis run the company and we can’t think of a greater honor than using our knowledge and hard-earned experience to help our customers live in a pest-free home.

It may not be the most glamorous job in the world, but we get to help people every single day, and not everyone can say that.

We also take great pride in hiring people who are looking to learn new skills. If someone is hardworking and willing to learn, we don’t require previous experience in pest control. We provide extensive on-the-job training to make sure all our technicians can help our customers, giving our team members valuable skills in the process. As part of our community, we consider it our obligation to create opportunities where we can, and it’s been working well for more than three decades.

At the end of the day, our customers make all this possible. By supporting a local family business, you make our American dream possible. When we reflect on 2016, we will always remember the challenges, but most of all, we’re filled with gratitude for our fantastic customers and reliable crew. We wouldn’t be in business without you.

Thank you.
