Did you know that Harford County was named after Henry Harford, who was the illegitimate son of Frederick Calvert, 6th Baron Baltimore? Henry Harford was the last Proprietary Governor of Maryland but did not inherit his father’s title because of his illegitimacy.
Another interesting fact is that Havre de Grace, a city in Harford County, was at one point being considered to be the capital of the United States rather than Washington, D.C.. It was favored for its location on the Chesapeake Bay.
Harford County is known for its scenic shores in the east along the Susquehanna River and Chesapeake Bay, as well as its vibrant agricultural heritage in the rolling hills to the north.
